I always tend to start off my recaps with a comment about the weather because wherever I go bad weather seems to follow… except for this weekend!! It was windy, cloudy, and there was that 40 second hail storm. All in all, the weather was better than the last couple of tournaments and I feel like my “weather” luck is starting to turn.

Everyone played the “south” course as the front nine and the “east” course as the back nine. The course was in great shape, but the rough was VERY thick, due to all the rain the Midwest has received in the last couple of weeks. The scores, for the most part, seemed to improve a little from the first day to the second.

In the Boys 8-9 division, Aaron Dobbs was our only participant. Aaron improved by 17 shots from his first day score of 127 to the second day to shoot 110. Great job Aaron!

In the Boys 10-11 division Jacob Eklund came back from being three strokes behind Brady Franson on Saturday to win by five strokes, shooting an 82 on Sunday. Congratulations Jacob! Also, Ethan Uken improved by ten strokes from Saturday to Sunday. Great job Ethan!

The Boys 12-13 division always makes for an interesting but VERY lively group. After the first day the Koerbel brothers held the first and second spot with Reed Aren in third. The Sunday scores shook things up a little and even I didn’t know who was going to place in this age division. When all the scores were in, Zach Koerbel pulled out a first-place win shooting even par, 72. Will Seger came back from shooting an 81 the first day to shoot a 75 on Sunday, coming in second place. Jeff Yoo beat Caleb Korbel in a playoff to win third place. Great job guys!!!

The Boys 14-15 division was just as exhilarating as the Boys 12-13 division. Jordan Wetsch, a newcomer to the PJGT, shot a 78 on Saturday for the lead into Sunday’s round; however Nathan Nottrott came out of nowhere, shot a two under-par 70, for a first place win. Jordan Wetsch shot a 76 for second place. Jason Plepel shot seven strokes better on Sunday to shoot 79 for third place. Great job to everyone!

The Boys 16-19 division is always an exciting group to watch. They are so competitive and I always end up having to run a playoff for this group. Carson Baugher and John Thomas started off the weekend by both carding 76’s for Saturday’s round. Carson and John were forced into a playoff when they ended up shooting the same score on Sunday. Carson won the playoff. Adam Saban came in third place. Brenten Blakeman had an eagle on the eighth hole, par five, to shoot 72 and came in fourth place. What a competitive group!

The Girls 12-14 division was also a close-knit group in terms of scores. Abbey Carlson traveled all the way from Florida to compete against Harley Dubsky and Olivia McCormick. Abbey and Olivia tied on Saturday with a pair of 86’s. Abbey shot an 83 on Sunday for the win, while Harley shot a 90 to win second place. Great job girls!

For the Girls 15-19 division Kris Yoo lead the group the entire weekend with a pair of 79’s. Ashley Keys shot an 85 and 86 for second place. Mackenzie Smith was consistent by shooting 87 both days for third place. Great job everyone!

Becca and I had a great time this past weekend and we want to thank everyone too for coming out! We hope to see you next at Bonnie Brook! - Jackie
