To call this past weekend at The Fort relaxing would be a lie. The late tee times, having to finish the first round on Sunday morning, and the threatening radar definitely tested our patience. However we were able to keep away the rain and get in both rounds, which compared to the hurricane last year, was quite a feat.
Watching the 8-9 Boys was such a pleasure. Andrew Lewis and Holden Scribner reminded Becka and me of why we started playing the game. It seemed like there was nothing that could ruin their day on the golf course. Congratulations to Andrew Lewis for placing first in the 8-9 Boys Division. And welcome Holden Scribner to the PJGT family!!
Another age division that was a pleasure to watch was the Boys 10-11 age group. Thomas Lewis started off the tournament with a 78 and shot an 81 the following day to win his age division as well as the 8-11 Weekend Medalist! Michael Banas beat Noah Lodin in a playoff for second place. Also, this was Dallas Koth's first PJGT tournament, welcome Dallas!!
The Boys 12-13 Division blew everyone away!! Nathan Pirtle, Jake Leonard, and Trent Pancake shot in the 70's the first day. However, it was Nathan Pirtle's 68 on the second day that not only won him the age division but also gave him "Weekend Medalist" for ages 12-19. Nathan also had an eagle during Saturday's round on hole #11, a 480 yard par five. Great job Nathan!!
It was an exciting ending for the Boys 14-15 Division. The top five finishers were within eight shots of each other which made the last few holes very exciting. Colin Proctor won in an intense playoff against Tyler Ostrom to finish first and second. Joo-Young Lee was one stroke behind them for third place. This was the first PJGT tournament for Noah Ludwig, welcome Noah!!
The competition was fierce for the Boys 16-19 Division. There were 15 rounds in the 70's! Wes Bowman led the pack shooting 73 on Saturday and even par, 72, on Sunday. Jacob Yocum came in a close second, shooting 76/72. And in third was Andrew Liao shooting 79/71. Liao also had an eagle during Sunday's round on hole #6, a 496 yard par five. Congratulation guys!
The 12-14 Girls Division was a small but mighty group. Even though there were only three girls participating in this age group, it was a close tournament. Sarah Kolodzik and Morgan Nadaline were in a playoff for first place, which Sarah won. Makenzie Curtis has made significant progress in her game since last year. Great job girls!
Kaelyn Lingenfelter was the lone player for the Girls 15-19 Division. However she put up two consistent rounds of 85/84. Great job Kaelyn!
Becka and I enjoyed seeing all of you last weekend and we appreciate everyone's patience. We hope to see you soon at our other tournaments. Have a wonderful week! - Jackie
