Despite receiving three inches of rain in two days, Crescent Farms Golf Club welcomed thirty PJGT juniors this past weekend. The golf course was wet and played VERY long. Thanks goes out to Mike Wuckitch and staff for their hard work.
Boys 16-19 Division Seventeen players teed it up Saturday, playing from 6700 yards. The tournament favorite had to be Adam Welch, Chesterfield, MO who got out to a great start by shooting 75. Newcomer Mitch Rutledge, Creve Coeur, MO was right on his heels with 77 in his first round. Six others broke 80 and were within five shots after the first round. Welch held off Rutledge by shooting a brilliant 1-under par 71 Sunday to capture 1st place honors. In a two-way playoff for 3rd place Declan Vea chipped in from 60 feet to defeat Max Bowling. Congrats to Nick Winston for career low 159.
Boys 14-15 Division Carr Vernon of Poplar Bluff, MO impressed us on Saturday with a division leading 74. Brandon Straeb, Clarkson Valley, MO stayed close with 78 in his opening round. Vernon ran away Sunday with even-par 72.
Austin Piephoff deserves a mention for OUTSTANDING sportsmanship. He knows why.
Boys 12-13 Division Great to see NEW FACES in this division. Nate Pirtle stole the show with a tournament leading 70 on Saturday. Nate was also the weekend medalist for all the 12-19 age divisions. Five players fought it out for second, all within seven shots of each other going into Sunday. Pirtle played another outstanding round with 73 Sunday, for a weekend total of 143, 1-under par. Congrats to Austin Shettler, Wildwood, MO for his second place finish in his FIRST EVER PJGT tourney.
Boys 8-9 Division Carson Miles from Advance, MO took the first place award with scores of 106-105. Congratulations also to Carson for being the weekend medalist for all 8-11 age divisions.
