Blustery winter conditions held off for two beautiful days while the juniors had a great weekend at Clemson University’s Walker Course. Amid tricky winds, blue skies, and mild temperatures, each age division went down to the wire with some stellar golf.
The South Carolina contingent came away with most of the gold with Greenville, SC golfer, Keenan Huskey claiming the Boys 12-13 Division with solid rounds of 75-75 = 150 to win by 4 over Hickory, NC native Roland Morris.
In the Boys 16-19 Division, Orangeburg, SC native Ford Blanchard, edged out Lexington, KY standout, Taylor Combs in a playoff for the title with rounds of 81-74, followed closely in third by Brad Martin, also of Lexington, KY.
Louisville, KY junior, Josh Frederick held on in the Boys 14-15 Division, thanks to a strong 74 opening round, and tough battle down the stretch with 85 to edge out Nicholas Dorton, from nearby Anderson, SC, by 1 shot.
Stacy Adams from Asheville, NC took home first place in the Girls 15-19 Division.
Many golfers and families were very impressed by Clemson’s quaint campus town and college surroundings, and the Walker Course staff at the first tee each day for the start of each group, made everyone welcome for a fun event at a world-class university facility alongside beautiful lake Hartwell.
