46 Players turned out to play the challenging Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, IL. The field was strong, as players were competing for the chance to play in the Callaway Junior World Golf Tournament in San Diego, California. This Raymond Floyd design was playing hard and fast...with the greens running around 11 on the Stimp-meter.
In the Boys 9-10 Division Varun Chopra played solidly all weekend, shooting 83-75 for the win.
The Boys 11-12 Division was truly like a two-day match play event. Ethan Uken of Champaign, IL held off a surging Crimson Callahan, Chesterfield, MO to win with a two-day total score of 85/75=160. Congratulations to Ethan on his FIRST PJGT victory.
Jackson Wendling, Boys 13-14 Division captured Saturday Medalist honors by shooting 78 in his first round. Four players lurked closely within 3 shots after Saturday. Tour newcomer Chase Whitsman played great, and won the event by firing 75 Sunday to edge Austin Carmack by 1 stroke. Wendling took 3rd place after a playoff with Alex Moorman.
The Boys 15-17 Division was stacked with talent. 12 players shot in the 70's Saturday. Logan Stauffer of Danvers, IL led after first round with 1-under 71. Josh Edison was only 1 shot back at 72. Scott Cahill came out hot on Sunday with 4-under 32 on front side. Stauffer held on to capture the medalist honors...earning a valuable golden ticket to the Junior World Tournament.
In the Boys 18-19 Division, George Tate shot 72 on Saturday to lead by 8. His 81 on Sunday earned first place, followed by Robbie Hill in second with scores of 82-72=154.
Grace Chen, Girls 9-10 Division of Sunnyvale, CA won with a two-day total of 169.
The Girls 11-12 Division was led by Harley Dubsky who earned her way to the Junior World Tournament with outstanding play....and a total of 152.
Jamie Caylor in the Girls 15-17 Division shot 76 Saturday for a 6-shot lead. She held on Sunday with a score of 83. Briana Midkiff edged out Olivia McCormick for a 2nd place playoff.
In the Girls 18-19 Division Ariana Savich impressed us with scores of 77-73. She has committed to play for the University of Missouri Tigers next year. Congratulations Ari!!!!
