Broken Arrow Golf club played wonderful hosts to the junior golfers on Mother’s Day weekend. Saturday proved challenging with high winds and cold Chicago temperatures that resembled British Open conditions. The juniors braved through it though and were rewarded with a beautiful Sunday and lower scores. All in all the juniors learned how challenging spring weather can be and persevered!
Bradley Shipley lead the Boys 16-19 Division on Saturday with a 77 but Peter Schink was able to better him by one stroke to take the weekend medalist for a two-day total of 157.
Dylan Patscot, Boys 12-13 Division, was low for the day on Saturday, shooting a very impressive 75 in tough winds and cold temperatures. He took first place honors with a two-day total score of 157; however, Sunday belonged to Billy Tom Sargent who shot three under on the back nine, including an eagle on 18 to end up with a 72 for the day and low round of the weekend. He finished with a two-day score of 160 and took second place. In third place was Eddie Wajda III with a two-day score of 165. Andrew Sigurdson came back from a rough Saturday and was determined to improve his score and he did so by 18 strokes!
Caleb Koerbel took first place in the Boys 14-15 Division by shooting scores of 83-81. Daniel Hudson came in second with a two-day of 167. Zach Koerbel finished in third with a score of 169 for the two days.
Aaron Dobbs, Boys 8-9 Division, came out on top with a two-day total of 233. Tyler Craig’s two-day total of 268 earned him second place. In the Girls 8-11 Division, Hallie Kent seemed unfazed by the weather after going 97-94 with a two-day total of 191. These young ones lead the rest of the field in battling through the rough weather conditions and were tough under nearly impossible conditions.
Harley Dubsky, Girls 12-14 Division shot an 80 for Saturday and finished the weekend in first place. Second place went to Karli LaGrotte for a two-day total of 179 and third was Danielle Brown with a total score of 185.
Both girls in the Girls 15-19 Division bettered their scores on Sunday; Janice Baumberger took first with a score of 173 and Brenna Obergfell placed second with a total of 215.
